This policy explains how Rolecall handles your personal information. We follow the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, where they apply, the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulations.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and password (stored securely as a hash).
- Your CV and the information in it, your contact details, job preferences and saved answers to screening questions.
- The applications Rolecall prepares and sends for you, including screenshots of completed forms.
- What you enter into the AI career tools.
- Billing details from Paystack, such as your plan and subscription status. We never see or store your full card number.
- Your approximate country, worked out from your browser, to set your regional price.
- How you use the site: pages visited, the website or ad campaign that brought you to Rolecall, and whether you open or click our emails.
How we use it
To run your copilot and send applications you've asked for, to provide the AI tools, to manage your plan and payments, to keep the service secure and to contact you about your account. We don't sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
- Employers you apply to, through their own application forms. This is the purpose of the service.
- Anthropic, which provides the Claude AI models we use to read CVs and write applications and advice.
- Paystack, which processes payments.
- Railway, which hosts Rolecall and stores its data.
- Resend, which sends our emails.
Some of these providers process data outside South Africa, including in the United States. We use providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable with POPIA.
The Rolecall Chrome extension
The extension only runs on a page when you click it in your browser toolbar. When you click Autofill, it downloads your profile, saved answers and CV from your Rolecall account and fills them into the form on that page. Nothing on the page is sent to us at that point.
If you click Draft with AI, it sends us the questions it couldn't answer, any answer options, and the page title and visible text so the answers fit the role. If you click Save this job, it sends us the job title, company, location, description and web address. We use this only to provide those features, and Anthropic processes the questions to draft the answers.
The extension doesn't track your browsing, read pages you haven't clicked it on, or submit forms. It stores a connection code in your browser, which you can remove by clicking Disconnect. Our use of information the extension receives follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account is open. If you close your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep records by law, such as billing records.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, object to how we use it, or ask for a copy. Contact us to do this. In South Africa you can also complain to the Information Regulator, and in the UK or EU to your data protection authority.
Cookies
We use a sign in cookie to keep you logged in, a cookie that remembers your country for pricing, and two analytics cookies of our own: a random visitor ID, and a note of the site or campaign that first brought you here. We don't use third party advertising or tracking cookies.
Emails
We send emails about your account and payments, and, unless you turn them off, job match emails, application updates and tips. Choose which you get under Settings, Emails, or use the unsubscribe link in any email.
Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change and tell you about significant changes.
